I was in a family gathering, with my father seated at my right and my younger brother seated adjacent to me. My younger brother’s view was a though it was the front desk of the family gathering. They were some extended family members present, uncles and kindred relatives. Someone brought out some bundles of cedis from a black nylon and he named it a very huge sum in naira. Others did not believe because the money was not much to be such amount in Naira. So they started by comparing the Ghana cedis to Nigerian Naira and it seem they did not understand the concept. I raised my hands to speak and my dad signaled to everyone to look at me. I explained to them that 10 cedis is equal 1000 Naira and the reason is because Ghana cedis is denominized by removing 3 zero from the currency original value. A man who understood what I explained said so 10 credis means 10000 cedis? I said yes. Another young man with scar face seated behind me was being addressed and my father ignored looking at him.
