Tahir FirasahBeing caught in a flood marks an encounter with a force that exceeds human governance. The root of the symbol suggests a spreading that has surpassed all boundaries, marking a period where the structures of a life are tested by an unstoppable influx. This dream is read as a sign of a great upheaval, but it is not a sign of a gradual change.
The movement of the water determines the nature of the calamity. A flood that carries the dreamer away signifies a loss of agency against the tide of circumstance. The weight of the water brings a total shift in what is known. A clean flood signals a complete washing of the old ways.
The presence of silt or earth in the water turns the sign toward ruin. A muddy flood brings the threat of a dissolution that leaves nothing intact. The dream signifies the arrival of a power that cannot be stayed.
To be swept in a flood or to be washed away by a flood adds the quality of helplessness to the upheaval. The dreamer is moved by a current that denies all effort at resistance.
Swimming in a flood introduces the possibility of struggle within the chaos. This detail suggests that some degree of navigation is attempted even while the surrounding forces remain overwhelming.
Being stuck in a flood changes the nature of the water from a force of motion to a force of weight. The dreamer is held fast by the inundation and cannot find an exit.
