An elevator falling is read as a sudden shift in social or professional standing. This movement signifies the instability of a position that was previously thought to be secure. The descent shows a person losing their place or their influence.
The dream marks a moment where the footing of a life is lost. This transition is not a slow decline but a rapid movement. A crisis is encountered when the descent is met with a sudden halt. The dream ends where the fall meets its end.
A falling lift or being in a falling elevator indicates that the change in status is an active experience of the person. The descent is felt as a direct movement of their own circumstances.
An elevator dropping signifies that a position is lost through a failure to hold fast to what was once grasped. This slip is the result of a failure to maintain a grip on a current role.
The impact of an elevator crashing brings a sudden stop to the movement of a life. This event is read as an unexpected accounting that halts all forward progress.
Free-falling in an elevator means that a person has yielded entirely to the pull of gravity. This state is characterized by a total lack of control over the downward trajectory.
For its more general meaning: Dream about an elevator
I had a dream where I got into an elevator I’m familiar with in real life. I couldn’t understand my keys to go to the right floor so, I missed my stop – floor three. It went up to the fourth floor and then crashed down. I could feel it and held on the sides with three other friends/acquaintances. The elevator hit the bottom and broke onto the fountain but not past it. Someone got out and figured we could all get out. No one was hurt and people saw us leave and later come back for our shoes.

Then the door somehow opened slightly and I managed to slip out not caring about my safety (still falling fast). Outside the fireman arrived but not for me.
